Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Warriors Party
Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a diverse cast of personalities, and a thrilling plot including angels, fiends, and dark forces growing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Key plot points for Episode 3 of the new season follow below.
The Warrior Group Introduced
Episode 3 ended with a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of heroes who will separate from the main group to undertake their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.
This warrior group includes the determined fighter (played by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Considering 13 cast members, it was evident from the start that having everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
Per the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might seem unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment demonstrate why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
First, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a intense opening clash with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose demise started the story’s plot—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.
Casimir then cleared his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, north of the city, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each member has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, seeks vengeance.
- The adventurer knows the northern area and advises that it is a nasty location.
- The warrior and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their reputation as key figures in the influential clan could assist the group reach places they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter pledged a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now follow him anywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that govern the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The healer turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the family.
This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward the northern region in search of the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
From the latest episode’s post-show segment, we discover that the Soldiers table will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight players to assemble the Explorers and Planners tables.
Fans can expect discovering which adventurers will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on October 24.
